29th-Oct-2009 11:31 am - Frustrations
cook
Have you ever had one of those days when you felt like you have tried your best and given absolutely everything into something... but you still don't get the results/outcome that you want? Today's one of those days for me.  My job hunt has been going on indefinitely for the past 9 months. There has been a couple of interviews, which either result in rejections or employer not willing to pay despite the advertisement stating the salary rate. I admit I was slacking and gave myself a short break at times, but lately I have given my best in every application that I submitted. I'm getting more desperate and frustrations started building up. I've asked myself millions of times "WHY was my application unsuccessful? What did I lack?". I have asked my friends to proof-read my cover letters on so many occasions, to the point that I'm so confident i'll at least get an interview... but still reality hurts.

Most people say "Don't worry... the right job will come when it's the time". I've been waiting and praying... but I couldn't help asking again "Yes it will come... but when? I wonder if it'll come soon?". I don't want my parents to think that all these while I've been mucking around and wasting my life away... but the only way I can prove to them otherwise is to get a decent job SOON. It must have been hard on them too, having an unemployed daughter... I must have been an embarassment and an investment that doesn't give a high return rate.

At the end of the day, I could only hope for the best and pray that the right job for me is just around the corner. I could only pull myself together and stand up again tomorrow, have more faith in myself and in god's arrangements for me.

To all of you who's having a hard time now, let us have more faith in ourselves and all the best!!
26th-Oct-2009 06:15 pm - I'm back... for a while ... :P

It's been ages since i last updated my livejournal (& blogspot). I would've updated daily by posting entries from my mobile but sadly, my sony ericsson c905 broke down again and only through this phone I can update my blog daily. I'm currently using pink sony ericsson z610i, my loyal and super-durable phone that has been with me for 2 years +. I'm not sure why I can't posts entries to my blog using this phone. I haven't got around to fixing its MMS functionalities yet.

My life has been pretty normal. Haven't got any luck with jobs yet, though I had 2 shots at 2 interviews last week. I'm hoping one of them would get back to me this week. My birthday celebration last week was pretty quite but exciting. Thanks to all my beloved friends for celebrating it with me. Afterall, it might be my last birthday celebration in Sydney. Let's hope i'll be able to score a good job before end of this year. *prays hard*

Sydney's been raining crazily these few days. I appreciate the rain coz I couldn't survive the heat last week. But the rain can get really annoying sometimes. My garlic plant hasn't fully-grown yet. I wonder when I can start harvesting my home-grown garlic :P

Thanks to [info]usami_chan for the KinKi's swan song singles. I'm using it as my ringtone right now :)

I've been downloading lotsa taiwanese drama through megaupload lately...and the fact that i'm using most of my peak download quota gets on my housemate's nerves :P I hope she doesn't swallow me alive. Which is why i'm currently thinking of subscribing to one-month MU Premium account and share the cost with my friend. I've tried all sorts of MU Hack but no luck so far :P

Till my next update, stay genki and take care everyone!!

Sydney sky last week: massive cloud & rain on the left side of the picture, and clear blue sky on the right. The Spring season in Sydney has not officially arrived yet, with gale force wind weather warning issued for several days. The weather this week has turned for the better, but the wind and chill sometimes keep me hibernating at home.

Wesley Fair'09 in Pitt St on 8th October:

It was really packed and all sorts of merchandises were on sale. I was volunteering in the kids' entertainment department, where I learned how to make a dog-shaped balloon :)

The garlic I planted around a month ago:

Few mins ago as I tried to log in to twitter, this appeared:

This "Fail whale" was created by Yiying Lu who was featured in 7th October edition of the Central magazine (click here). I've been wanting to see it "live", so I couldn't resist taking a screen cap of it :p

Can't wait~~

Yesterday i attended a one-day coffee-class. Below are some of the coffee arts that i made:

There are so many patterns that I haven't managed to draw yet and I can't even steam the milk properly yet, so i still need to practise a lot. I get really frustrated when i couldn't make a good froth and has to waste the milk but I'm so glad i attended the class coz i've been wanting to learn how to make coffee. Hopefully i would be able to get a cafe job so that I can improve my skills!!

I'm also currently watching Full metal Alchemist: Brotherhood that were aired earlier this year. I assumed it was a continuation of its first series....only to be disappointed and find out that they're actually the same as the first series. I haven't watch the movie that was released as a sequel to the first season, as well as many of the OVAs that were released after the 1st season and movie... I love this anime to death.... if anyone knows where I can download animes, I'll really appreciate it if you can drop me a comment!!!

cook

This photo was taken while I was walking towards the South Juniors community club across the road together with my housemate. It was nearly forming the colours of the rainbow but I couldn't capture it with my phone camera. I hope one day I would be able to enjoy the scene of sunrise + sunset from the beach.

I went to check out the gym and swimming pool in the community club. After so many years of procrastination, I think i'll finally sign up for a gym membership lol~ (though procrastination hasn't ended yet since i haven't actually signed up for it). Looking at so many people exercising in the gym made me feel so fat and inactive. In one day, i've probably moved less muscles than even handicapped people LOL~ I hope Ms.paperplanes & my other housemate (Ms.E) would sign up for the gym membership as well...so that I will be more motivated to go to the gym =P
11th-Sep-2009 10:58 pm - John West Tuna & Bean Challenge
cook

I received my John West Tuna & Beans few weeks ago in the Nuffnang welcome pack. I haven't managed to stretch my cooking imagination too far yet, so i decided to follow the recipe posted by Leigh in here and make my own variations:

- John West Tuna & Beans (Capsicum, sweet corn, red kidney beans & chilli)
- Turkey strips
- Ham
- Mozzarella cheese
- Leggo's pizza sauce sachets

Sneak peek while it's sizzling and baking in the oven:

Tadaa!!!

I wasn't so optimistic about the taste at first because i don't really like kidney beans. But as I opened the can, the smell of tuna & capsicum was so overwhelming that I don't even care about the kidney beans anymore!!! If i wasn't so focused on my hesitation towards the kidney beans at first, I would've used the spork and eat it out of the can right away!

Another highlight to this pizza is the Leggo's pizza sauce! It would make a beginner cook like me seem like a pizza master. It tasted just like those pizza paste from Domino's and other pizza stores. I will not hesitate to buy John West Tuna & Beans from Coles during my next grocery shopping, and I'll make more pizzas from the remaining 3 sachets of Leggo's pizza sauce and pizza bases!!!

Thanks Nuffnang for this delicious meal and Leigh for the creative ideas!!
11th-Sep-2009 10:57 pm - Cookie tiramisu
cook
8th September:

I've been craving for cold desserts since last night so tonight I decided to make this cookie tiramisu, taken from Ms.paperplane's blog here. It's still 2 hours away before I can eat it though...
I didn't put the chocolate syrup on top like Ms. paperplanes did because it'll be smudged away when i covered it. Below is my poor attempt at decorating it with choco chips instead:
I hope it'll turn out as good as the one Ms.paperplanes made before!

Thank's Ms.paperplanes for the recipe!!!
11th-Sep-2009 10:53 pm - Caramel Pork with noodles
cook
8th September:

Another dish taken from the recipes+ magazine: Caramel pork with noodles! This was my first attempt at cooking a pork dish. My shoulder and arm still hurts from trying to cut the pork spare ribs into 2-3cm pieces using the unbelievable blunt knives at home.My cutter/pen-knife could have been sharper than those knives. It's really time to buy a knife-sharpener / new knife.

The noodle turned out pretty good...but I don't like the caramel pork even though my housemate said it was pretty okay. Perhaps it's my obsession with chicken in play. Another reminder for myself and fellow beginner-cooks out there: don't use frozen chunky vegetable mix in your cookings unless you really have to. They taste weird =P

1st-Sep-2009 02:18 am - My other blog
cook
Ok so a few posts back i mentioned about setting up a blogspot account so that I can post Nuffnang advertisements on it and earn myself some extra pocket money. While the pocket money part hasn't came true yet, I have actually gotten around to set up a new blogspot account. For the moment, the contents are identical to posts that I update here. However, something that i've received in my mail today has triggered a new enthusiasm in me towards blogging. I was really excited when I saw the box because i've never received something this big (& free) through the mail before.  Here's what I received this morning:

A Welcome pack from Nuffnang for signing up with them

A thank-you note from Nuffnang together with Coles & Myer $10 gift card:

And these awesome goodies that I can utilise for my cookings and my exploration of haircare products to find the perfect ones for my hair:

I was aware of the Nuffnang Coles & Myer Group $10 gift card competition through my friend, who received the same $10 gift card and has spent it on making a sweet treat which we latter label as: "Annedamisu" (her nickname + tiramisu). As I was brainstorming for ideas on how I should spend my $10 gift card on, I realised that the competition has closed on 31st August!!! That's so careless of me. I should've noted down the closing date of the competition and came up with something by tonight in order to try my luck for a $100 voucher. Regardless, I will still try my best to come up with a creative idea on how I should spend my $10 gift card.

As for my other blog: Flavour of life (title taken from my favourite Utada Hikaru's song), please visit it and leave comments, click the ads, and participate in the polls whenever you're free. Right now, it still contains duplicate posts from this livejournal account, but i will also devote my time to create unique posts that will be different from these livejournal posts in the future. I will keep updating this livejournal account of mine, because it has the lovely "friends page" function and network that I haven't established yet on blogspot. I will really appreciate it too if you can refer my blog: http://flavourlife87.blogspot.com when you sign up for a Nuffnang account. You'll get freebies like I did!! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu~~

On a side note, my friend's colleagues have been visiting her after they heard about her car accident. She was delighted from all the care and concern. Here's what many of her colleagues and friends have brought her:

Being surrounded by so many bouquets of flowers will undeniably brightened up your mood somehow. She's still recovering and i hope that she'll get well soon so that she can go back to work and meet all those colleagues who care so much about her.
